I Charge N1m to Write a Song – Harrysong
Here's what Harrysong, aka Mr Songz, who is currently living large under his new management, KCee's 5Star Music, said in an interview with Punch:
“Before now we (songwriters) charged between N100, 000 and N2000, 000 for a song. Today I charge as much as 1million to write a song. Truth is, Nigerian artistes have begun to appreciate songwriters. They pay me my money and appreciate me. I have written a lot of songs but I don’t talk about them because Nigerian artistes don’t like it when the songwriters take credit for compising songs for them.”And that's not all! About his Tribute song to the late South African leader Nelson Mandela, released on December 11, 2013, which received a stunning one million downloads in a single day, an excited Harrysong says:
“The proceeds from the caller-back tune is actually worth more than N50m. Truth is, I was paid a lot of money; you know - when they say money that can change someone’s life. That’s the value of what I received .
“I can’t reveal the exact amount because we work as a team. So, all the money realised is shared among us. You just want to forget all the years of suffering. It’s not a mere hype because the money is there. The song is everywhere. You go to South-Africa , the girls are crazy about it.”

Gani Fawehinmi's Family Rejects Centenary Award
The family of the Late Human Rights crusader, Gani Faweyinmi, SAN, whose patriarch was shortlisted to be honored at the ongoing centenary celebration, earlier today wrote to the secretary to the government of the federation, Senator Ayim Pius Ayim, rejecting the offer.
The letter signed by the scion of the Faweyinmi family, Barrister Mohammed Faweyinmi, reads:
February 27, 2014
Chief Anyim Pius Anyim, Secretary to the Federal Government of Nigeria, Presidency, Abuja
Dear Sir,
RE: CENTENARY AWARD TO OUR LATE FATHER, CHIEF GANI FAWEHINMI (SAN)
We acknowledge the receipt of your letter, dated February 24, 2014, which was routed through Mr Tony Akiotu, Group Managing Director, DAAR Communications, Abuja, wherein our late father, Chief Gani Fawehinmi(SAN) was chosen as one of the awardees of the Centenary celebrations of Nigeria by President Goodluck Jonathan.
We want to thank the Federal Government for considering our late father for this HONOUR. However, for reasons stated here under, our family has decided it would be inexpedient to accept the award:
1. In the list of the awardees published by the Federal Government, was the name of former military dictator, General Ibrahim Babangida, who as military president, severally detained and tortured our late father.
In the course of one of such illegal and inhuman detentions, our late father’s cell was sprayed with toxic substances while in Gashua prison in 1987. The cumulative effect of that dastardly action led to our father, a non- smoker, contracting lung cancer which eventually led to his death on September 5, 2009. We therefore, find it morally incongruous and psychologically debilitating for our family to stand on the same podium with General Babangida to receive awards.
2. Our late father was empathetic to the sufferings of our people, particularly students. In the last 72 hours, 59 innocent students were mowed down by the blood- thirsty Boko Haram terrorists in Yobe state, while 20 other girls were similarly abducted by these same band of terrorists. These girls are still in captivity while their fate is unknown. If our late father were to be alive, would he be wining and dining with all the glitterati at a Centenary celebration under these circumstances? Certainly no.
3. In the past few weeks, the polity has been assaulted with putrid odour of corruption with the alleged $20 billion missing in NNPC, a development that became the Achilles heel of Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, the suspended Governor of Central Bank.
As an anti-corruption activist, if he were to be alive, our late father would have confronted the issue head-long and possibly gone to court. With the issue still raging, would our late father have accepted this award at this critical moment? Certainly no.
4. Our late father was unrepentantly for the UNITY of Nigeria. However, with the level of profligacy in some of the events celebrating NIGERIA’S Centenary, our late father would have preferred these multi- million Naira expenditures channeled to our decrepit Teaching hospitals, than unproductive razzmatazz that do not improve the socio-Economic well being of our people.
Sir, for these reasons, our family respectfully declines to receive the award about to be conferred on our late father by the government.
Please, accept the assurances of our highest consideration.
Long live Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Reader's Mail: 'My Fiance Says I will be Living with his Parents after our Wedding this August!'
Dear BEN readers, I have a problem and I don't know how to go about it.
My fiance recently told me that I will be living with his parents after our wedding in August this year. It's actually a tough situation - my fiance is the only son and has been taking care of his parents/ paying their house rent, bills since he started working. His kind of job doesn't allow him stay in one specific location for more than three months - He is a bank auditor, so he keeps being transferred to different branches of the bank every 3 months. His parents live in Lagos so
he says I will be living with them cos he can't afford paying rent for two separate houses he doesn't even live in. I live in Lagos too with my parents.
The thought of me moving in with his parents sincerely makes me want to not get married again. Two of his younger sisters live there too. And I think his family would resent me if I insist on changing things and stealing him away. Any ideas, suggestions?
'So Called Man of God, (COZA Pastor Biodun) Rejected Me cos of a Scandal' - Singer Kefee
Gospel singer Kefee, in a chat with Encomium Magazine while trying to defend her Kokoroko song with secular singer Tamara, told this interesting story of her experience with now happily married Ese Walter's COZA pastor, Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo. Please read:
You started out as a traditional gospel singer, along the line your deviated. Would we say you re-branded?
If you have my album or albums, you would know that I am doing same kind of music, but different genres. For instance, the kind of songs in Branama 1 is the same with other songs, but with improved production and vocals.
Some people were not happy because you featured Timaya in Kokoroko and he’s a secular singer. How would you react to that?
Before I react to that question, let me tell you this short true story. In 2008, I was invited to perform at a church (name withheld) in Abuja for the second time. The publicity for the show was massive, they had distributed invitation card to guests, people were even calling to confirm if I was going to perform. In fact, I got copies of the flyers weeks before the show.

Suspended CBN Governor Sanusi Lamido Sues President Jonathan
Suspended Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has finally sued President Goodluck Jonathan before a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, challenging his suspension from office.
In a suit filed late Monday by some of his lawyers, including Kola Awodein (SAN), Sanusi is urging the court to, among others, restrain the President and two others from giving effect to his purported suspension, pending the determination of his suit.
Also to be restrained are the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and the Inspector General of Police (IGP), sued with the President.
Sanusi is pleading for an order of interlocutory injunction restraining the defendants from obstructing, disturbing, stopping or preventing him in any manner, from performing the functions of his office and enjoying in full, the statutory powers and privileges attached to the office of the governor of the CBN.
He said the interlocutory application he filed with the suit was necessitated by the issues raised in the suit.

Photos: Timi Dakolo & Family Move Into the Val Gift House he gave Wifey
Last time during his interview on ChannelsTV show, Rubbing Minds, Timi refused to talk about the wonderful house he gifted his beautiful wife Busola, and mum to his three kids for Valentine. Cos, according to him, he didn't know where bloggers got the idea he bought her a house from. So, I'm thinking they got it on rent.
Well, he just shared these new pictures of himself and son in the same new home. And they look soooo cute.

FGC YOBE ATTACK: Why Girls Were Spared And Only Boys Were Killed
Mass killing of school children at the Federal Government College in the Buni Yadi area of Yobe was shrouded in mystery after reports revealed that only male students were killed. It has been learnt, however that the extremists intentionally spared the female students.
According to the officials, female students at the co-ed school were spared – and that the attackers instead told them to go home and get married and to abandon their Western education (Boko Haram – meaning “against Western education”).
It would be recalled that the attackers set a locked dormitory on fire in the early hours of Tuesday. The terrified students escaped through the windows, they were shot and their throats were slit. Some were burned to ashes. The massacre was followed by violent reactions by Nigerians and top politicians, urging the authorities to put an end to bloodshed in the country.

Dear readers: I hate the way my girlfriend dresses...
I so much hate the way my girlfriend dresses. I've complained over and over again but it seems I'm not getting through to her. She doesn't think a woman can be sexy without showing body parts. Her clothes are skimpy, trashy and disgusting. They are all either too short, too tight, breast on display, her favourite are transparent clothes. Those kinds of clothes are fine if you're standing on the streets but not when you are going out with your man. I get very uncomfortable when we go out. She likes all the attention she gets from people when we go out but I am embarrassed. I do not want to be seen in public with a girl dressed that way but because I care a lot about her I still haven't broken up with her. What can I do about this lady? I really want her in my life. Minus the dressing, everything else about her is perfect. My kind of woman. Please advise.
Oscar Pistorius was looking at porn websites on his phone the night Reeva died
It's been revealed that Oscar Pistorius was watching pornography on his mobile phone the night he shot and killed his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp. Local media reports that based on the court papers that leaked from the investigation, data from his phone showed that the murder suspect visited the porn sites on his phone while Reeva was at his home. Prosecutors wonder why a man who claims 'he was spending quality time with his girlfriend on Valentine's Day' would be on several porn sites while she's with him. This action they say is in direct contrast of his claim. The phone was recovered after his arrest. (Oscar still has fans. Pictured above with some of them recently in Johannesburg)
Now dear men, is it not normal to watch porn while your girl is with you?

Don’t Blame Me if My Clothes Don't Cover My Boobs — Yvonne Jegede
Yvonne Jegede, she was one of the 3 ladies featured in Tuface Idibia’s “African Queen” video, made a stunning comeback to acting after several years of being away from the industry in promo pictures that got most men drooling and a lot more people talking. And in a new interview with Vanguard, she explained why she shows off her boobs.
Excerpts:
You have a penchant for revealing some part of your body, may be your boobs. What happened today?
Well, it depends on the clothes. I have big boobs, so, if the clothes are not big enough to coverWhat can you not do without as a very pretty girl?
my boobs you would not blame me for that. I am not the person who made my clothes . I just put the clothes on. It depends on my mood. If I want to expose my back, I will do that. It goes with my mood.
My eye pack because I love my eyes. I always like to make my lips look good. For the accessories, I can not do without my golden wrist watch. I wear it anywhere I go every day because it gives me good luck. I like big things and that’s why I had to get a big wrist watch.
What would You do if your Own Child Confesses to You that He/She is Gay? - Question of the Day
Guys, let's talk about this. I read all your comments about the Nigerian LGBT protest at the Nigerian Embassy in London yesterday and frankly, I too am strongly in support of our anti gay bill. It could be finetuned, no doubt, but I strongly believe being gay shouldn't be praised or accepted as normal. I have 3 sons and of course, I dream of having 3 fab daughters in law when the time comes.
Then again, we all know a lot of things are easier said than done when it particularly affects us. All of us here
have kids or younger siblings, nieces, nephews who are still growing up. They are still 'innocent' today.
So, what would YOU do if tomorrow, any of these loved ones confesses to you, in trust, that he or she is gay. We are no longer talking about strangers now being gay. Our own loved ones.
What will you do?

Woman Disfigured by Huge Facial Tumour Reveals New Face after Transplant
For every minute we are up on our feet and able to enjoy life, with no sickness, with or without money, we all ought to be thankful.
This Polish woman, pictured above, more pics below, was disfigured by a huge facial tumour but yesterday, she revealed her new face at a press conference in Poland. The 26-year-old, identified only as Joanna, underwent Poland's second ever facial transplant after neurofibromatosis – a genetic condition causing benign tumours - left her
unable to chew, talk or swallow.
But successfully, doctors were able to use a donated face and replace 80 per cent of the skin on Joanna's face, after a 23 hour surgery,. And now, Joanna can chew, talk and swallow again. Best part - doctors said the facial tumour will not recur because the skin on her new face is from different genes.
You don't even need anyone to explain to you the hardship, pains this young woman has survived. Check out her amazing transformation below:
Nigerian Gays & Lesbians Protest At The Nigerian Embassy In London
Rev Jide with other activists |
According to them, they had to come together to say No to this atrocious law and its blatant violation of their human rights. They also delivered a protest letter to the Nigerian High Commissioner. In the spirit of Love
that February is famous for, they hosted a kissing spree outside the embassy as they said Yes to Love and No to Hate.
Defending their right against people who use the bible to judge them, the coordinator of the protest Davis Mac-Iyalla said:
As for the Bible and scripture, I just try to do my best to live the way I believe a good person should and leave "the book" to others who do a great job twisting it into what they want to believe. I do use pieces to point out their imperfections, though, when they use it as a weapon against homosexuals. I have said it before, and I would say it again: If you want to live completely by the principal of the Ten Commandments, then show me where it was written that "thou shall not be gay."
The African church must open its mind to honest conversations. The African bishops need to stop doing the talking and start listening to the LGBT people.See more pics below:

Court Sentences Arowolo, Man who Killed his Banker-wife to Death
A Lagos High Court in Ikeja has sentenced to death Akolade Arowolo for the murder of his banker wife, Titilayo, who he repeatedly stabbed to death, at least 76 times, at their residence in Isolo, Lagos, on June 24, 2011.
Justice Lateefat Okunnu, in her judgment on Friday, held that even though there was no eyewitness to the incident, the circumstantial evidence given by the prosecution proved the murder charge against the convict beyond all reasonable doubt.
The 32-year-old man, Arowolo was arraigned for murder on December 21, 2011, after he murdered his
wife, Titilayo, a Skye Bank employee, at their residence at No. 8, Akindehinde Street, Isolo, Lagos.
Forensic pathologist, Prof John Obafunwa, who carried out the autopsy on the corpse of the deceased, had said there were at least 76 stab wounds on the body. He described some of the wounds as penetrating to heart, and damaged the organ and others including, the diaphragm, lung and the liver of the deceased.

Must read! Chimamanda Adichie writes on the anti-gay law
Article written by award winning writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie titled 'Why can’t he just be like everyone else?' Find it below...
I will call him Sochukwuma. A thin, smiling boy who liked to play with us girls at the university primary school in Nsukka. We were young. We knew he was different, we said, ‘he’s not like the other boys.’ But his was a benign and unquestioned difference; it was simply what it was. We did not have a name for him. We did not know the word ‘gay.’ He was Sochukwuma and he was friendly and he played oga so well that his side always won.
In secondary school, some boys in his class tried to throw Sochukwuma off a second floor balcony. They were strapping teenagers who had learned to notice, and fear, difference. They had a name for him. Homo. They mocked him because his hips swayed when he walked and his hands fluttered when he spoke. He brushed away their taunts, silently, sometimes grinning an uncomfortable grin. He must have wished that he could be what they wanted him to be. I imagine now how helplessly lonely he must have felt. The boys often asked, “Why can’t he just be like everyone else?”
